Canadian Alliance for Healthy Hearts and Minds

What?

The Canadian Alliance for Healthy Hearts and Minds (Alliance) are interrested in cancer, heart disease, stroke and brain health. This study is being conducted to better understand the early causes and risk factors of these conditions and to learn how these risk factors progress into the disease states. Alliance is also interested in how our living and working environments influence aspects of our lifestyle such as physical activity, food intake, and stress. Finally, Alliance is interested in exploring the consequences of these diseases among Canada’s diverse ethnic populations, including Aboriginal people.

Who?

There will be approximately 9,700 participants recruited at locations across Canada in this study,

including 3,000 participants of various ethnic origins. The study also aims to include 2,000 individuals from Aboriginal communities. In Quebec, Alliance will recruit approximately 1,550 participants some of which will come from the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI) Biobank, others from the CARTaGENE project.
