Summary
Diabetes includes several forms whose management depends on accurate classification, but atypical forms such as latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) are often misdiagnosed. This project aims to estimate the prevalence of different types of diabetes in Quebec, with a focus on LADA, which may be underdiagnosed. Analyses use clinical, biological and genetic data from CARTaGENE participants to identify and confirm cases. The study compares characteristics across type 1, type 2 and LADA diabetes, as well as non-diabetic individuals. This work may improve detection of atypical forms and support more appropriate treatment strategies.
