However, the effects of physical activity performed at work are less well understood than those of recreational physical activity. Some studies have even reported a higher risk of lung cancer among individuals with physically demanding occupations, possibly because of workplace exposures that often accompany these types of jobs. Using data from CARTaGENE and other large Canadian cohorts, this project examines the relationship between occupational physical activity and lung cancer risk. Findings to date suggest that the effects of physical activity at work may differ from those of recreational physical activity and highlight the importance of considering working conditions and occupational exposures associated with certain jobs. This research is contributing to a better understanding of the factors that influence lung cancer risk and may help guide future workplace prevention
