class=\"ft-contenu__body-col col-12 col-lg-8\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ft-contenu__texte\"><p>Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide and occurs more frequently in men than in women. Although several risk factors have been identified, the reasons behind these sex differences are not fully understood. This project focuses on endocrine-disrupting chemicals, substances that can interfere with the body\u2019s hormonal system, including sex hormones, which may play a role in the development of colorectal cancer. Using data from CARTaGENE and other Canadian cohorts, researchers are estimating occupational exposure to these chemicals based on participants\u2019 work histories and examining whether such exposures are associated with colorectal cancer risk. Findings to date suggest that certain workplace exposures may contribute to cancer development by disrupting hormonal pathways involved in the normal growth and function of cells in the colon. This research could improve understanding of how occupational environments influence colorectal cancer risk and help inform prevention strategies aimed at reducing exposure to potentially harmful
