class=\"ft-contenu__body-col col-12 col-lg-8\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ft-contenu__texte\"><p>Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, but it does not fully explain why some individuals develop the disease while others do not. This project focuses on DNA methylation, a biological process that can influence how genes function without changing the underlying DNA sequence. Lifestyle and environmental exposures, particularly smoking and certain occupational exposures, can alter DNA methylation patterns in ways that may contribute to lung cancer development. Using blood samples and questionnaire data collected through CARTaGENE, researchers are investigating whether changes in genes involved in responses to toxic substances and inflammation are associated with future lung cancer risk. The study also aims to better understand how smoking and workplace exposures influence these biological changes. This research may help identify new biomarkers for the early detection of individuals at higher risk and improve understanding of how environmental factors contribute to the development of lung
