This project combined magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), genetic data, and information on lifestyle and environmental factors to better understand the determinants of cardiovascular health. Using data from CARTaGENE and the Canadian Alliance for Healthy Hearts and Minds (CAHHM), researchers developed new approaches to study early signs of cardiovascular disease before symptoms appear.<\/p>\n<p>The research helped establish reference values for heart structure and function in a diverse population and showed that cardiovascular risk factors are associated with subtle brain changes detected by MRI as well as reduced cognitive performance. These findings contribute to improving the early detection of cardiovascular disease and support the development of more personalized prevention
