class=\"ft-contenu__body-col col-12 col-lg-8\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ft-contenu__texte\"><p>Indoor air pollution caused by burning wood and other solid fuels for cooking or heating affects billions of people worldwide and may increase the risk of several types of cancer. This project uses data from more than 587,000 participants in 13 large population cohorts, including CARTaGENE, through the international Household Air Pollution Consortium (HAPCO), to better understand the long-term health effects of these exposures. Researchers are examining whether exposure to household smoke is associated with a higher risk of death from lung cancer and other cancers of the respiratory and digestive systems, while taking into account factors such as tobacco smoking, second-hand smoke, outdoor air pollution, and genetic susceptibility. By combining data from multiple countries and populations, the project aims to provide more accurate estimates of the health burden associated with household air pollution and to support prevention
