Gene mapping and genetic correlation across complex traits

Many common diseases, such as eye conditions, certain cancers, and digestive disorders, are influenced by genetic factors and may share common risk mechanisms. This project aims to identify new genes associated with these diseases using data from CARTaGENE and other large cohorts, while also improving understanding of the links between different health conditions. Genetic analyses are used to identify regions of the genome associated with disease risk and to improve tools for estimating an individual’s risk. The project also explores how genetic information can be combined with family history to provide more accurate predictions of disease risk. This work contributes to a better understanding of the biological causes of common diseases and may ultimately help improve prevention and identify individuals at higher risk.
