Summary

Cognitive disorders and mental health problems have become major public health challenges worldwide. Yet the contribution of environmental factors to these conditions remains understudied. This project examines the impact of two common urban exposures: air pollution and ambient noise. Using data from the CARTaGENE cohort, the study aims to determine whether long‑term residential exposure to air pollutants and noise is associated with cognitive performance, anxiety, or depression in adults.
The project will also explore whether certain personal characteristics—such as age, sex, education, socioeconomic status, or existing health conditions—modify these associations. By improving our understanding of how the urban environment influences brain health, this research may help identify new opportunities for prevention and public health action.
