Exploring genealogy and genetics across Quebec
Description
GÉNÉO is a research platform that integrates and connects three major types of data: genealogical data from the BALSAC population file, genetic data from CARTaGENE and the Quebec Regional Reference Sample (ERRQ), and geohistorical data organized within a geographic information system (GIS) developed by the Centre interuniversitaire d’études québécoises (CIEQ).
It enables the exploration of thousands of fully anonymized genealogies, offering a detailed portrait of the French-Canadian population and supporting advanced analyses of the demogenetic structure of contemporary Quebec.
The platform also provides access to genomic cohorts, allowing researchers to examine the distribution and prevalence of genes across the Quebec population, in connection with genealogical information.
Finally, GÉNÉO includes cartographic tools based on Canadian census data, making it possible to map both genealogical data (such as ancestral origins) and genetic data (such as allele frequencies) across the territory.
