Investigation of Biomarkers of Radiation Exposure in Radon Cohorts

This project aimed to determine whether biological markers can reveal chronic exposure to radon, a naturally occurring radioactive gas found in some homes. The study drew on data from CanPath, including 730 CARTaGENE participants for whom in‑home radon measurements were performed. Researchers focused on healthy non‑smoking adults who had lived for several years in environments with either low or high radon levels, in order to compare a range of biological indicators. The findings will help improve understanding of the biological effects of long‑term low‑dose exposure and assess the relevance of biomarkers that could be used to detect this exposure in the population.
