Summary

Pharmacogenomics examines how genetic variation influences drug response, particularly through cytochrome P450 genes responsible for metabolizing most medications. This project aims to characterize genetic diversity in these genes and understand the factors shaping it. Analyses use large-scale genomic datasets, including CARTaGENE, and develop methods to better detect complex variants. The project also investigates the role of natural selection and the pleiotropic effects of these genes on multiple health traits. These findings may improve understanding of individual variability in drug response and support personalized medicine.
