Summary

Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), also known as chronic fatigue syndrome, is a complex disease characterized by severe fatigue, pain, cognitive difficulties, and worsening of symptoms following exertion. This project aims to identify genetic factors associated with ME by comparing the genetic profiles of affected and unaffected individuals. Researchers are particularly interested in genetic variants involved in homocysteine metabolism, as elevated homocysteine levels have been observed in some people with ME. The findings may help identify biomarkers for improved diagnosis and provide new insights into the biological mechanisms underlying the disease.
